Memorial Day with pets

Posted by Mr. Pet on

Memorial Day is an important date and we like to enjoy it. As the unofficial start to summer, Memorial Day is a great excuse to get outdoors and celebrate with your family and friends—including your four-legged ones.

Here some tips:

BARBECUE

It is a typical commemoration, but be careful for your dog don't be hurt by the fire. And do not give the bone for your pet, some pets have problems, and the salt is not good for pets. Be sure to keep alcoholic beverages away from animals

WATER FUN

Another typical memorial day is going to beach or lake, bur always be aware for your pet. Not all dogs know how to swim naturally, and even dogs who know how to swim can be tired, and make sure they always wear flotation devices when on boats.  Don't skip the sunscreen, believe it or not, dogs can sunburn, especially those with short or light-colored coats, be sure that you use a specific sunscreen on your pet, not all sunscreen can be used on pets, unless specifically designed for animals. Also, try to keep your dog from drinking pool water, which contains potentially dangerous chemicals like chlorine. Many pool chemicals will cause burns to the mouth, throat and stomach, so it’s important to keep a close eye on your pet when they are around the pool.

TAG

Pet are curious, so it is common they go away to see something different. Be sure you have a identification tag with your information, or microchip, preferably both.

FRESH WATER

Be always sure that your pet have fresh water and shade whenever they need. It's important have always fresh water around. Set up a cool spot with a towel to lay on, a good tip is put some ice on the water bow.

CAR

If you will be traveling this Memorial Day weekend, make sure to never leave your pet in your car unattended, and keep a close eye on any personal items stashed in your car that your pet might ingest (e.g., gum or medications).

FIREWORKS

Fireworks noise may be too scary for pets. it’s important to keep your dog in a safe place if fireworks will be going off. Leave a place with pillows and some clothes for your dog to feel safe (ex: under the table, or somewhere he likes to stay)

Enjoy memorial Day with your pet!!!
